PAM is an abbreviation of Polyacrylamide, which is a water soluble high flocculent polymer. It includes Cationic Polyacrylamide, Anionic Polyacrylamide and Nonionic Polyacrylamide. PAM has diversified using according to different Molecular Weight and Ion Degree (Hydrolysis Degree).

Usually the APAM (Anionic PAM) used for oilfield chemicals, like EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) and oil drilling.

Cationic PAM: Water Treatment, as flocculant to seperate solid from sewage.

Bore Piling: There are two usage in bore piling:

Polyacrylamide could be used like building glue additive, because of the high viscosity and water retention. So it could be mixed in slurry of borehole wall to get better efficiency. The cationic polyacrylamide is suggested.

Slurry is important to protect borehole wall, but surplus slurry need to be removed. So we put polyacrylamide into the slurry, as the flocculants, polyacrylamide could make the slurry to be water and sands, and the sands easy to be removed.
